Angel Reyes Consulting LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the Subthesis website. This Privacy Policy explains what information the site handles, where it goes, and what we can and cannot see. In short: Subthesis runs no analytics, sets no cookies of its own, and keeps the work you do in the free tools and the Research Assistant in your own browser.
Your work stays in your browser
The free tools and the Research Assistant save your work in your own browser, using browser storage (IndexedDB and localStorage). This data is not sent to Subthesis.
What this means for you
- We cannot see, back up, or restore your work.
- Clearing your browser data deletes it.
- It does not move with you to another browser or device.
- Where a tool offers an export, use it to keep your own copy.
Services your browser contacts directly
Some features load files from, or send requests to, other services. These requests go straight from your browser to that service, which receives standard technical data such as your IP address and handles it under its own privacy policy.
Optional local AI
If you choose to turn on the Research Assistant's full AI mode, your browser downloads the model files (which can be large) from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) and supporting program files from GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com), using the open-source WebLLM library. The files are stored in your browser, and the model runs on your device. Your prompts are not sent to Subthesis.
Literature and funding searches
Search features send the search terms you type to public research databases: OpenAlex and Crossref for published literature, and NIH RePORTER for funded NIH projects. Requests to OpenAlex and Crossref include a Subthesis contact address (contact@subthesis.com), as those services ask of the apps that use them. Your own email address is not sent.
Embedded videos and documents
Course lesson pages and some blog posts embed YouTube videos from youtube.com (not the youtube-nocookie.com domain), and some blog posts embed documents from Google Drive. When a page with an embed loads, YouTube or Google may set cookies and collect data under Google's privacy policy.
Tool page styling
Tool pages load style and script files from public content delivery networks (cdn.tailwindcss.com and cdn.jsdelivr.net).
Hosting
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical data about visits, such as IP addresses, under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
Search reports
We use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, which give the site owner aggregate reports on how the site appears in Google and Bing search results, such as search terms, clicks, and impressions. Neither adds tracking code to this site, and the reports do not identify individual visitors.
We also use Ahrefs, an SEO research service. Its crawler may visit the public pages of this site the same way a search engine does. It adds no code to this site and does not track visitors.
When you email us
If you email angel@subthesis.com, we receive your email address and the content of your message, and we keep that correspondence so we can respond and follow up. We use it only to reply to you and to arrange any work you ask about.
Purchases and services
Books and courses
Subthesis does not take payments on this site. Books are sold on Amazon, and paid courses are sold on Teachable. When you buy, you give your information to those companies under their own privacy policies. We may receive basic course enrollment information from Teachable, but we do not have access to your payment details.
Services
Paid services are arranged by email. Scope, price, and terms are agreed in writing before work begins.
Refunds
- Books bought on Amazon: Amazon's return and refund policy applies.
- Courses and products bought on Teachable: Teachable's refund policy applies, as described in our Terms of Use.
- Custom services: the terms agreed in writing by email before work begins apply.
- Free tools and free courses: no payment is involved.

Children's privacy
Subthesis is intended for students, researchers, and professionals, and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
The Little Thesis is a picture book for young readers, sold to parents and caregivers through Amazon; this site does not collect information from its readers.
California residents' rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). In practice, the personal information we hold is limited to email correspondence and basic course enrollment information.

How to exercise your rights
To exercise any of these rights, email angel@subthesis.com. We will respond to your request within 45 days and may ask for information to verify your identity. Work stored in your browser never reaches us, so you can delete it yourself by clearing your browser data.
Data security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because your tool and Research Assistant data stays in your browser, its security depends on your device and browser. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
International users
Subthesis is operated from the United States. If you contact us or buy through the services named above, your information may be processed in the United States or in other countries where those services operate. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under the GDPR; email us to exercise them.
