2023: The Spark
A doctoral student hits a wall
When I started my doctoral journey, I quickly realized how fragmented the research process can feel. There were tools for citations, others for statistics, and yet more for organizing literature, but nothing that brought it all together in a way that made sense for how students actually work.
Graduate students spend countless hours wrestling with literature reviews, struggling to formulate clear research questions, and navigating complex statistical decisions, often without adequate support. The students with the least institutional backing feel it most.
The question that started it
What if the practical scaffolding of research (frameworks, checklists, calculators, and planning templates) were free and all in one place?
That question eventually became Subthesis in 2024.
