The capstone lesson of the course. It covers exam delivery, pacing, and test-taking strategy, a 50-item mixed review weighted to match the content outline and scored by domain, and the rules for recertification and use of the CPH credential.
Questions and answers
Questions a learner would ask about this lesson. Think through your own answer before you open each one.
- What are the basic facts of the CPH exam?
Show answer
The exam has 200 multiple-choice items: about 175 scored and about 25 unscored pretest items mixed in invisibly. Each item has four options and one single best answer. Scores are reported on a scale of 200 to 800, with 500 as the passing score, and there is a maximum of six attempts. No personal calculator is allowed, but an on-screen calculator is available.
- How should I pace myself?
Show answer
Four hours is 240 minutes for 200 items, or about 72 seconds per item. The lesson sets checkpoints near item 50 at one hour, item 100 at two hours, and item 150 at three hours. The one short break counts against the four hours, and the lesson notes the average candidate spends about two hours and fifty minutes on the exam.
- Should I skip a question I am unsure about?
Show answer
No. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, and unanswered questions are counted as wrong. Eliminate what you can, then guess. With five minutes left, stop reviewing flags and sweep the answer panel for any blank.
- How do I use the 50-item review?
Show answer
Score it by domain, not by total, because a raw total teaches you almost nothing. Rank your ten domain percentages and give the weakest two most of your remaining study hours. Around day ten before the exam, take the second practice exam under exam conditions as a dress rehearsal, and keep the last two days light.
- What does recertification require?
Show answer
The lesson teaches reporting 30 recertification credits every two years, related to the CPH content outline, through the CertCentral portal, along with the application and fee. Credits can come from any provider as long as the activity relates to an exam domain. The lesson notes that one paragraph of the June 2026 Handbook says every three years, while the requirements section and the FAQ say two years; it advises following the requirements section and confirming your own dates in CertCentral.
