Does Subthesis use cookies or analytics?

Subthesis's own code doesn't set cookies and doesn't run analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. Some pages embed content from other services, and those services may set their own cookies.

What Subthesis stores instead

Subthesis saves your work in your browser's storage (IndexedDB and localStorage), not in cookies. This data stays on your device and isn't sent to Subthesis. It includes:

  • Your tool work and Research Assistant projects
  • Course lessons you've marked complete
  • Simple preferences, such as dismissed notices
  • A usage summary for the Research Assistant's own activity dashboard, such as session counts and which tools you used. It stays in your browser.

Third-party embeds

  • YouTube: course lesson pages and some blog posts embed YouTube videos. YouTube may set cookies when a video loads or plays.
  • Google Drive: some blog posts embed files from Google Drive, which may set Google's cookies.

Other sites

When you follow a link to Amazon, Teachable, chesstudyguide.com, or a social network, that site's own cookie and privacy policies apply.
