Can I sync my work across devices?
No. Subthesis has no accounts or cloud storage, so your work doesn't sync between devices or browsers. Each browser keeps its own separate copy.
What does sync
Tabs in the same browser share the same saved data. If you have the same free tool open in two tabs, changes in one show up in the other, and the Research Assistant sends some tool updates between open tabs. That's the only syncing Subthesis does.
How to move your work
For Research Assistant projects:
- On the first device, open Research Assistant Settings and use the Export Projects tab to download a JSON file.
- Move the file to the other device.
- On the other device, open Settings, choose Import Projects, and select the file.

Keep one working copy
Because nothing syncs, edits on one device don't reach the other. Pick one device as your main one, and export again whenever you move, so you don't end up with two versions that differ.
