Week 1 · Adaptive Planning Program

4. Intervention Mapping: Logic Models of the Problem

30 min

Before you can solve a problem, you have to understand its mechanics. This lesson utilizes Intervention Mapping to construct a “Logic Model of the Problem”. Distinct from a standard program logic model, this tool forces you to articulate the specific mechanisms of illness: exactly who must do what differently for the health problem to change.

We will identify the specific behavioral and environmental determinants necessary to set clear performance objectives.

Practice quiz

  1. Question 1
How does the lesson distinguish a ‘Logic Model of the Problem’ from a standard program logic model?
  2. Question 2
What two categories of determinants does the lesson say you must identify to set clear performance objectives?
  3. Reflection 3
In Intervention Mapping, what does it mean to write a performance objective, and why does it matter that it specifies ‘who must do what differently’?
